Charter Australia, and its training unit the Australian Academy of Project Management, offers a completely integrated programme of education, consulting and mentoring. Charter Australia’s training and services are built around the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). PMBOK is the most widely-accepted international standard for project management practise and training. PMBOK was established by the Project Management Institute of the USA and underlies Australia's own competency standards for practitioners. One of the strengths of Charter's approach is that we develop workshops tailored as much as possible to our clients' needs. This allows us to work in close partnership with our clients and ensure that a strong, relevant skillset is transferred to our clients' project management personnel. At Charter we describe our approach to business as a 'Projects' approach. This is in contrast with the traditional view taken by business which is often based on a 'Process' approach. A Projects approach encourages businesses to break with the traditional and limited business focus on individual business processes and look at the big picture with the help of project management training. The reason that this approach continues to be extremely successful within the Australian corporate community is that it supports delivery of the following benefits:
Obviously, realising the full benefits of such a dramatic paradigm shift is not easy! On the other hand there is often no quick fix to the problems that plague modern-day organisations. Those of us who have been told by our doctor to make dramatic lifestyle changes will know the feeling that arises when we are told that our corporate paradigm will have to evolve or simply cease to function. The role of Charter in any organisation is to ensure that the change management process is a comfortable one, and that a 'Projects Culture' will spread gradually but deeply. You can rest assured that Charter's consultants are all practising project managers themselves, as well as being skilled in adult education practices. In addition, all of our consultants hold a minimum certification level of Master Project Director and are endorsed by the Australian Institute of Project Management as RegPM certification assessors. |
